No. 24

20070224

7 correct guesses (Carrie, Chad, katiecroft, monsieurxander, rumplefin, tmantones, Zack).

No. 17 was “Coal Miner’s Daughter” (Michael Apted, 1980). Oscars: Won Best Actress (Sissy Spacek); nominated for Best Pictures, Art Direction, Cinematography, Film Editing, Sound and Adapted Screenplay. The guy who wrote the screenplay is from my hometown and thus I used to crap on this movie when I was younger. I was wrong — it’s beautifully written, thoughtfully directed and well-acted. You should see it — a little country music story won’t kill all you hipsters. Superior to “Walk the Line.” (Tommy Lee’s dye job is awful, though).
